I am having a break from PSG

Post by David Hartley »

Hi all.

I have my health to get right, Fran to look after and a home to prepare.
There's also more to life than pedal steel guitar for me at the moment.
I have had great fun and enjoyed the journey.

Today, I will post Mike Johnson's Borrowed Angel to the running thread in this section of the forum as I follow his playing closely.

Thank you all for your friendship.

Remember, I will still visit PSG forums and facebook etc. to see what you're all doing and promise to answer as many emails, messages, phone calls as I possibly can.
John Davis (UK) will handle anything I ask him to.

PS. My website is still running and everything will get processed as normal.

Hello David;
Sorry to hear you are having issues with your health.
I hope you can get it all straightened out
soon & get back to doing what you love to do.

I am sure Fran will be there to help & will see you get
the best of care too.
Take Care my friend.

We need to turn the TWANG up a little

It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.

They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head :)

Ron your good wishes for David I know are welcome, sad to see such talent in early retirement, I am sure most hope its only temporary. My advice to David still stands, I think he needs to buy a fishing pole and spend some quiet time watching that float away from the pressures that steel guitars can bring.
I hope with Fran's help he will come through this bad time and return stronger.JD

David, I hope you fully recover and get back at it as soon as you are able. Isn't it great to have such a good friend in John. Never spoken to either of you, I but feel like all steel players have such a great connection. And friends like John are the best... My best to you always...

A very well deserved break David, however knowing it's due to an illness is a very sad feeling...It takes lots of Neurological substance and human commitment to play the steel guitar at your level, you are second to nobody on the world stage of players.

Thank you for all you have done, you have been a great teacher to many of us with those wonderful close up vid's on U-tube. You'll be back soon when you are ready, you're an old lion heart! :)

Your intonation and precision and general musical capability set a standard that few will achieve on this instrument.

I second that notion. Fishing is one of those pure pleasures that allows the spirit to breathe. It's not for dummies either, at least that's what the ones that getaway holler back at me.

All the best to you, David. You have given, and I have no doubt will continue to give, our community a veritable feast of music.

Dave,
After 45 years of ministry, I have developed whats known as a sixth sense about certain things, so I guess I`m trying to say, you are on my list, and I will have you there until "He" says other wise my dear friend. Be blessed! Always your friend,
Ron

Hi David I love your Steel Guitar playing and Ray Walker who passed on a couple years ago got me to listen to you play and i have followed your playing ever since.I myself have a pace maker and Defribulator in me for almost a year and i'm doing fine. My wife and the neighbors call me the Energizer bunny as I,m all way out in the yard doing things. One neighbor said to me I watched you the other day and I had to go in and take a nap as I completely wore him out HAHAAA.I was out this past Saturday and Shoveled the snow from my Drive way. You take care and hope every thing works out for you.

David,

Sorry to hear you have having health problems. For now, take care of what is important, your health and your new bride, and get better so you can hopefully get back to some music.

I have enjoyed the many videos you have posted over the years and was fortunate to see you and John perform live in Dallas a few years ago. You are a master of the instrument. Thanks for the music and get better.

As a fellow Justice guitar owner, I join with everyone else here in wishing you Godspeed in returning to the world of PSG. Your touch and tone are impeccable and the Steel Guitar world would be the lesser without your continued support and participation.
