Need ZUMSTEEL info
I recently purchased ZUMSTEEL # D1084317. The guitar was everything and even more than advertised. I want to thank Gene and Pat Heald for their hospitality while I “test hopped” the guitar at their home in Orange Beach Alabama. Two of the nicest folks my wife and I have met.
If possible, I would like a ZUM owner, that has the 1st string F# to G# raise on their guitar, to email or post the changer hole and pull finger slot that operates this change. Are the older ZUM changers even capable of making this change? Your help will be most welcomed and appreciated. I didn't want to call Bruce because I'm sure he's busy with the backlog of guitar orders.
Thanks, Leon

Don't hesitate to call Bruce. I have no doubt that he'd LOVE to help you. I can't say enough about the personal attention I've received from guys like Bruce and Jerry Fessenden. They take personal pride in their creations. You may buy that guitar but it'll always be THEIR BABY.
I know there are others who feel the same way -- Del Mullen, Ed Fulawka, and others -- I just don't have personal experience with them. But I can tell you Bruce will make you feel like a member of the family.
Oh yeah, my 1980 ZumSteel came with that change, so, yes, they can do it. As I recall it was in the top slot on the bellcrank, furthest from the square shaft. Probably in the middle hole in the changer.

I have a Zum #d1084456,that has that f# to g# raise. On my steel the rod on the fingertip{bellcrank}is next to being the furthest away from the cross rod.Not the bottom slot but the one next to it.
On the changer it's in the 3rd hole down from the top with the guitar in the upwright position.
String size is .013
Hope this helps. If not give Bruce a call.

I want to thank everyone for their responces. I think I have a handle on it now. I'm going to call Bruce and get some colored fret boards. After playing a Sho-Bud for 28 years, these plain ZUM fret boards are disconcerning. After playing the ZUM for awhile last night my wife ask me how the Zum compared with my PRO-III Sho-BUD. The only comparison I could give her was playing the Sho-Bud was like driving a Lincoln Town Car and playing the Zum was like driving a BMW sports car. This might not be a good analogy to some but it's the one I came up with.
