After reading a recent post about repositioning the "pedal 4" change to the left of the first pedal I got all ambitious and decided to re-rod my Zum. It would simply be a matter of moving the pedal 4 changes to pedal 1 and shifting pedals 1,2 and 3 over one position to 2,3 and 4. The only thing lacking was one pull rod long enough to reach the first cross shaft. I called Zumsteel, Bruce Zumsteg answered on the second ring, I explained what I wanted to do and buy, he said he'd send a pull rod kit right out. But, he said, that 4th pedal change (lowering strings 5, 6 and 10) takes some tweaking so be sure to use bell crank hole 4 for strings 5 and 6 with the top changer hole and something else for the lower string. He must've figured I wasn't completely getting the picture. Check out the invoice he sent:
Not only did he send the part and trust that I would return a check (it's in the mail, Bruce!), but he took time to hand write directions for rodding this particular change. What a guy. That's what I call service.

Bruce Zumsteg can take a dummy like me and
instruct me to install pulls that work.
Same senario I called to get a knee lever rod and bell crank asking stupid questions and he talked me through it without making me feel like the idiot. He not only builds a great guitar but has best memory for names I've ever seen.
