Pierce 8-string pedal steel?

Post by David Doggett »

Someone asked me about one of these and I had never heard of it. It is a single-neck with 8 strings and 4 pedals. I haven't seen it or a picture, but it sounds like a late '50s vintage. I know there was once a Pierce music store in Florida. Could this be from there, or is it in any way related to Webb Pierce? Image

When I first returned from Hawaii (to the US) in '68, I played a borrowed Pierce whilst my brandy new ZB came to me. It was a real piece of junk, but you could get sounds out of it. IT was made, seemingly, mainly from window channel aluminum.
