Need some info in using Midi Files (deleting lead instrument

I use Midi's in the same way as BIAB files. I mute the lead instrument and change the tempo and Key as required. However, I've learned that the muted instrument file does not stay muted when it's saved. I have a couple of free Midi players off the net. The friend who deletes (as opposed to mute) the track is a bit secretive about the process or what he uses!!!!!!!

What is the secret or what do I need in the way of software. I'm not using any of this stuff for commercial purposes, it's all for home personal use.

I use an old program called Master Tracks which loads each instrument as a separate track. It allows volume and velocity as well as removing each instrument individually and key changes. Then I do a save as and both files are still available to me. There's probably better software out there as this is a very old program but it works for me.

I use an old program called "Cakewalk". Was a very popular midi program in it's day. You can highlight and delete any track on any midi you open with it.

You want some muting or erasing done on some midi files, email them to me with what instructions for them and I will do them up and send them back to you.

George I think power tracks will do the same thing for you and works with BIAB. You could check with the guys here and they can tell you more.
