How about a Emmons S/N Date list? Not Push Pulls.

Instruments, mechanical issues, copedents, techniques, etc.

How about a Emmons S/N Date list? Not Push Pulls.

Post by Tommy Everette »

I see a lot of questions about Emmons (Legrande, Lashley Legrande 1, 2, & 3) dates of manufacture including my own.
Would it be a good idea to have a list of Forum members S/N's and known dates to help people figure theirs out?
Or Bad idea?
Could also help in stolen guitar situations...

However, the D-10 Emmons, that I bought new in the spring of 1971, S/N 1464D is listed as a 1970.

It was ordered at Chuck Levin's Washington Music Store, Wheaton Md, in March of 71 and delivered in April (about 30 days from order).

It would be nice if there was a serial number listing or flow chart that helped someone to date their Emmons within a year or so. Especially now that, as I understand it, the company is difficult to contact.

It would be nice if one could find out in one place or site:

- What style of logos were used and when.
- What tuners were used in what years.
- What style of bellcranks were used in what years.
- When wraparounds were made and when they were discontinued.
- When bolt-ons were made and when they were discontinued.
- What flocking color was used and when.
- When the 1st style of rods were replaced by the current style.
- The different pedal styles and when they were used.
- etc.

Actually, ALL of the above information is known by several people. It's just that no one has decided to publish or list it all. Unfortunately, one of the reasons is that there are those who live to correct or criticize someone's well-intentioned efforts at such a task.

Good try Tommy. I too, don't understand why there isn't an easy to understand "All Pull", Emmons serial # list. RP
Emmons SKH Le Grande, Tick tack bass, Regal high strung, USA Nashville 112.
