snapping" noise with knee lever
If I let my LKL sit unused for a while, it makes a snapping noise on the first pull, as though the string were caught on something and using the lever suddenly releases it. Any ideas on what might be causing this? On subsequent pulls, the lever works fine. (Until it sits for a while...then "snap"...)

I assume you're talking about an all-pull guitar that uses nylon tuning nuts.
Visualize the threaded end of the rod with the nylon nut on partway going through a hole in the raise or lower finger of the changer. Some guitars use spacers but some don't. The noise could occur when there's a thread or two contacting the changer hole. The first time you engage the change it will snug the nylon nut up against the finger. If it rides across the threads there may be a noise.
Or not . . .
. . . I'm sure there are other things that could cause this (binding slightly, etc.) but that's what comes to mind.

I`ll have to go with Larry on this one.
Also if the pull rod has a slight bend as some should have, it`s maybe moving up or down a little in the finger hole when you engage the kneelever. Thats where the snapping sound may come from.
A little expermenting with how much it should bend may take care of the problem.
