Push/Pull pull rods

Push/Pull pull rods
Ok, 2 questions:
1) Where could one find extra pull rods for a push pull (please dont say welding shop, don't have any accessable)? What diameter are they? 1/8" or the 7/64" that I've seen mentioned
2) Supposing I find pull rods, and I want to use them for raises, how is the end flattened for the hole to be drilled for the connecting wire from the pull rod to the changer finger?

Small Parts Inc. in Miami sells 1/8" stainless steel rods.

Either use a hammer or a large vise to flatten one end. Then drill the hole in it. Use a larger drill bit to very slightly countersink the hole on both sides. This will allow the "hook" to move more freely.
Aluminum is ok but has a higher expansion and contraction coeficient than stainless steel. While rods expanding and contracting have little to no affect on P/P's*, I recommend the stainless steel ones if you can get them.

* NOTE: The reason expansion and contraction (of pull rods) has no affect on a P/P's is because the main stops are at the changer ("half-stops" excepted); rather than at the crossbar crank like used on "All-pull's".
