Well, this may be premature, but I can't resist posting the photos of a new horn built for me by Jerry the Fess. He sent the photos today, and it's arriving next week.

Yes, they are Texas longhorns, but not related to T.U. My wife is a Texas Aggie, and having a Tea-sipper thing in the house is actually grounds for divorce in TX.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I want to also add on this forum thread that the cabinet was created by my good friend Mark Giles of Hamilton TX. Mark makes cabinets for other builders as well. I personally hope that a renaissance in lacquer cabinet guitars is in the future, though of course my history with old Emmons PP's is also well documented here in Forum-land.

I see beauty in all steel guitars that are built well, sound good, and are played proficiently by folks who appreciate what they have.

I have a question. Why is LKR (E9th) in back of LKL (C6)?

One other thing Herb. Your LKV (C6) is a great change. Years ago I used to grab strings 3, 5 and 8, then engage the 5th pedal. And my ears ocassionally would hear the need for that 5th string going on down another half tone to bring in the F major chord. And using pedal 5 as a fulcrum to push up on makes this vertical a lever for it.

Nice to know you have this change. I love it.

Carl, the E9LKR/C6LKL levers actually should hang almost parallel to each other. Though I haven't seen the guitar in person yet, that is the lever arrangement on my current Fessy and Jerry allows as how that's the way they are on this guitar.

The idea was to get close to the Sho~Bud model, but with good metal, wood, pickups and especially the craftsmanship that IMHO are missing on all but a few of the Sho~Buds. So I went for the custom cabinet and the Wallace single-coils.

Ricky, I figured you'd probably approve of this one...

Man I tell you Herb, I've always thought that was the most beautiful wood scheme and especially with the white fretboards on an old Sho-Bud but the Texas Longhorn symbols just steels it away bud. That's dynamite! I have that 5th string whole tone/C6 lower on my p/p. Great change, super guitar. Real craftsmanship there!
