Formatting SD cards and USB Drives Over 32gb
Why do I have so many problems formatting SD cards and USB drive above 32gb. I have a couple of 64gb mini SD cards that I needed format. One to go into my phone. XP wouldn't even entertain the idea of formatting it. My Win 7 laptop would format it into NTSF or exFat. I then tried copying my music collection (about 10gb and few hours of time) and then my video collection (about 12gb). During the copy of the videos, I get an error 0x80070570. So I Googled the error and found a fix. So I ran the fix, and my card went dead. I had to reformat it several times, and I even tried 2 different cards. Then I would get a card is not formatted or card is empty error. I have to copy the videos 1 at a time, because at some point I get that 0x80070570 error, and it says there is additional data in the file and it won't copy any further.
I also have a 128gb USB drive that neither computer will format. It's just sitting in my desk dead.

Here is what I found after I experienced the same problems as you have.

This works perfectly with a Transcend TS-RDP8K USB module that accepts just about every type of card.

I finally got the 2 64gb mini SD cards to format. I found a program like the one you mentioned, but it was for USB drives. I have a 128gb drive I can't format, and the program I downloaded didn't work either. I haven't tried it since I got my Win7 laptop. I'll have to give it a try.

Curiously enough, I formatted any number of SD cards with the program since it is not specifically for USB drives. I run a 64-bit Win 7 Ultimate OS with 32GB memory. I think that my system has nothing to do with it but I have a small Transcend module that accommodates SD cards.

This module has its USB2.0 connection of the rear and its drivers loads automatically when The computer is on line.

My Win7 laptop has an SD card reader built in. I did finally get the 2 64gb mini SD cards formatted. I can't find the 128gb USB drive. I probably got pissed and threw it out.
I have a Sony multi-card reader hooked up to my desktop.
