Twin Cities, MN: any steel this Thurs night, 6/26?

Post by Jim Cohen »

Gonna be in town for a few days for a wedding and have Thurs. night free (6/26); got steel?

If not, can you recommend any good jazz clubs around town(s)?

Albert Lee and Cindy Cashdollar at the Dakota in Downtown Minneapolis that night. I believe Mickey Adams will be in town also, he may be looking to do something. The Dakota is a very fine restaurant/club. Our only real jazz club in the cities anymore.

Thanks, Michael. We had just discovered the Lee/Cashdollar gig and just bought three ringside seats for the show. What a stroke of good luck!

(Interestingly, last year I had to go to Berlin for a business trip and, to my amazement, the one night I had free -- Albert Lee was playing in town, with Gerry Hogan on steel, so I got to see/hear them both and had a nice backstage visit too! :)

I work 2nd shift or I'd be there with you. Once saw Albert do a seminar at a church with Leo Kotke in Minneapolis around 1981 or so. Close your eyes when those 2 are jamming and you'd swear 4 guitarists are playing. Have fun!

Have a safe trip to MN, JC!

If you're going up 'nort' we're playing classic country at the Brainerd Eagles on Friday night and a place south of Motley called the Friendly Inn on Sat.
My best,
Ernie

Hey Jim, if you see this, I will be at the show on Weds. night. If you have tickets for Thurs, give me a call on my cell and maybe we can hook up for a cup of coffee. Haven't seen you for awhile. Cell is 651-207-7968.

Thanks, Dennis

Hey Jim, If you read this before you go to the Dakota to see Cindy and Albert, I have a message for you from Cindy.

She wanted me to tell you that you should be sure to stop and say hello after the show. I told her that you would be coming to the show.

The show was great, and the club is really intimate. We sat about 10 feet from the stage, and they have closed circuit TV overhead to those who may not have a good visual of the stage. You can see all the action on the screen, if your seat is not in a good position.

I certainly will go again to see great performances there. Hope you enjoy the show, and call me if you want.

Thanks, Dennis. Too bad you're not going tonight so we could see you there. Not sure if we'll have time to visit but I'll take your # along, just in case. We're in town for a wedding, so most of our time is booked solid with that.

Thanks for passing along the message from Cindy. I'll be sure to meet-and-greet after the show with both her and Albert.

Appreciate it,

Jim
