Jack White on ACL
Who's the steeler/fiddle?
Looks like an S-10 Emmons. 4 pedal rods.
It's a "heavy" set.
h
20 minutes in just switched to acoustic Cajun.
Wow.

I was at that show and it was Fats with the male band playing an Emmons S10 and fiddle. With the female band Maggie was playing her Sho Bud. Jack was touring with both bands at the time. So if it was a blond woman playing steel it was not Fats.
I don't know what part of the show you saw. If the drummer, bass player and all were women then it was Maggie. If the players were guys it was Fats.

Jack white
Plus one for Jack White Sucks. It's not because he's not country, it's because he's not musical.
If you do something crappy, but with a lot of conviction, it's still crap.
I think he'll do OK without my support, a million people disagree with my opinion.
It could be me. I just don't get it. And the all girl thing ? I like girls. But it reinforces the notion of music as a visual medium. It's not. I could go on and on.

Music on TV
My take on music on TV:
If it requires video to give cred to the music, it's likely not very musical.
It's like when you hear someone rave about a concert in non musical terms, like "they put on a really good show ".
It may be on TV today, but will we want to hear it tomorrow? Will it stand on its own ?
Will we be asking to hear achy-breaky or who let the dogs out , in 20 years ?

He ain't no Conway Twitty but I guess I'm in the minority here.
I like Jack...he actually digs steel guitar.
He hires not one but two steel players!
He's helping to promote our instrument to a wider, younger audience.
I gotta admit though that seeing Maggie Bjorklund playing her Sho-Bud in platform heels blew my mind. I didn't believe it at first, check out her web-site, she's the real deal.
Fats is by no means a slouch either!

With Jack White, it's all about expressing yourself anyway you can
We can't ALL be virtuoso players
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ7DZ7HPXck
Personally- I think he's a singular voice with outstanding musical insight.
(Ask Loretta Lynn what she thinks of Jack White- "she won a Grammy for Country Album of the Year for “Van Lear Rose†and for the song “Portland Oregon,†a vocal duet with Jack White, the album’s producer")
