Best free antivirus

Post by Scott Duckworth »

Of the best free antiviruses, which one do you recommend? Keep in mind these factors:

1) best ability to stop viruses.
2) smallest downloads when updating.

I have been a long time Free AVG user, but the huge downloads are killing my 5GB per month internet.
(No hi speed here but cellular.)

I have tried Avast, but with it's constant scanning everything clicked it slows the computer down too much.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

I use the free Microsoft Security Essentials. I've used it since it came out and do not have any problems. I recommend it to the computer clients I support and all except 1 are using it. It is popular with techies on the computer forums I visit.

I use the Microsoft Security Essentials, I have them a on ( 2) units...I just a bought a new Dell T7610 for my business (CAD) and have had no trouble at all.
I used to use AVG, and a few others, can't remember the brands. So far Microsoft Security Essentials is all I need.......Charlie
