Give me an hour or two and I'll find one for you that supports at least 4 PCs.

This may have been covered but I personally run a Enterprise version of Norton where I have my domain controller also work as the Symantec Server, it receives all the updates and installs them on every machine in my network, of course all the logs are generated and kept there making management for your anti virus software quite easy to maintain. This is my home network by the way, we use the same thing at work but a newer version, extremely more expensive. I paid less than $100.00 for my older Enterprise version fully licensed.

Microsoft Security Essentials - free download, and as many computers as you want. Does the same job as paid subscriptions.jolynyk wrote:I have 2 desktops & 2 laptops, I used to have Trend Micro, but it only handles 3 computers, I now have 4 & need a program.. Any suggestions??
The "Block Pop-ups" checkbox in my FF browser settings works for me, in concert with the AdBlock Plus and Flashblock add-ons, and WinPatrol Plus, a simply wonderful system asset. Also what is the best Popup Blocker

Thanks much Dave.. Was still weighing my options.. $100 a year seems pretty expensive especially when a person is on a pension.. I have 3 cheap computers, my wife uses one $100 laptop primarily for games & emails, I have a Gateway I just purchased for recording, but is connected to the Internet, My grand daughter has one that I want to put protection on for her, Security Essentials I have on 1 computer, & was wondering if it was all I needed.

MSE is all you need for anti-spyware/anti-virus as long as you update it often. But of course, any computer should also have a firewall as well. I use Windows 7 built-in firewall and it seems to perform adequately. I used to pay for my anti-virus software years ago, but the MS free product makes paying for it sort of pointless in my view.jolynyk wrote:Security Essentials I have on 1 computer, & was wondering if it was all I needed.
BillP's WinPatrol Free and Winpatrol Plus, the full featured version ($30 and well worth it) is browser-independent. This product is capable of doing much more than I could list here, but simply being notified anytime any software tries to make changes to your system and settings, and being afforded the option of preventing anything undesirable from taking place, BEFORE the fact, and that's crucial, is alone worth having it installed and monitoring what's going on all the time. You get that feature in the free version. I paid for "Plus" to get everything it can do, and it's great."in concert with the AdBlock Plus and Flashblock add-ons, and WinPatrol Plus, a simply wonderful system asset...."
Dave, will these add ons work with IE
I prefer Firefox and don't have a lot of experience with Internet Exploder add-ons/extensions. However, this page indicates there is a downloadable Adblock extension for IE.
Apparently, Flashblock is not compatible with IE, but this page explains a workaround you could try if you're interested. I don't know how it works, but in passing, I'll note that Flashblock for Firefox doesn't remove flash videos, it just keeps them from playing till you click on them. That's convenient to prevent flash videos in multiple tabs from all trying to play at once..Arrrgghh.

In light of one new and other soon to be discovered zero day exploits of Internet Exploder, I strongly recommend PC users, especially XP users, to switch to Firefox or Google Chrome.

Thanks Dave & Wiz.. I installed Google Chrome on my wife's laptop, Windows 7, & it worked for awhile, & quit. The icon is still on the taskbar, but double clicking or right clicking & open doesn't bring it up. Can't open it. So I uninstalled it & downloaded it again & Nada.. won't open. She has been using IE till I can get Chrome to work again.

What about your Start Menu - what happens when you try to open it from there?jolynyk wrote:The icon is still on the taskbar, but double clicking or right clicking & open doesn't bring it up. Can't open it. So I uninstalled it & downloaded it again & Nada.. won't open.
Another avenue would be to use Windows Explorer to locate the executable (chrome.exe) and double click it. There might also be an item in the taskbar icon (or, desktop shortcut, it you have one) right-click drop-down to "Open File Location" - that might work too.
However you locate chrome.exe, and double-click it, if it doesn't open the application, the install's corrupt.
