Wrist Lever?

Post by Dennis Detweiler »

I've been playing pedal steel for 40+ years and will be purchasing an 8 string lap soon. I'll be using the A6 tuning from top,,,(E C# A F# E C# A E). I'd like to lower the middle E to Eb with a lever. Is anyone using a wrist lever? I've seen them on pedal steels a few times, but have never sat down to one. Anyone have a blueprint of the mechanics of it? Or, variables?
Or, as suggested in another post, a rkr lever to drop the E and a fold-up non functional lkl and/or lkr to keep the guitar from sliding off my lap and onto the dance floor?
Thanks

The type of steel guitar and the bridge style in particular will determine the possibility of adding a "palm" lever.
I have made a few and installed them, Some require a Gibson style "stop bar" others need extra room behind the bridge to attach the pedal hardware.

do a search for "multibender" and see the threads on the Duesenberg multibender that can add a number of palm levers to your lap steel

here's one on an 8-string (it really only does 6)

and one of the threads is a little multi bender users thread - you could post there
