Fender 68' Custom Deluxe Reverb Opinions
I've been considering a tube amp lately. I play usually small gigs and when playing larger gigs we mic everything.
I don't think I need the watts or weight of a Twin and I will be using it for Tele as well.
Any opinions on how well it could work for PSG?
What may be a deal breaker is the speaker is a Celestion G12V-70.

Typo
Sorry that was a typo. It should have been the
68' Custom Deluxe Reverb.
They're calling it the Custom Deluxe Reverb because of the Custom Channel with the Bassman circuitry.

The description scares me away from it for steel, but I have not played one.
"...features quicker gain onset and reduced negative feedback..."
I've messed with the negative feedback in Fenders before, and it tends to be a bit unhinged and garbled in the low mids. I like my '72 Deluxe Reverb for steel, but I don't know if the changes in the reissue would be for the better or worse.

FWIW at the price of a new one, you could shop around and get a mid 70's one that will be point to point wired and probably of better quality. I think the new fender reissues are circuit board amps, no different than their regular offerings and more difficult to service than the 70's era deluxe reverbs....

Dave, I was thinking the same thing. And if someone wanted the Bassman tone controls, you could probably mod the normal channel of a SFDR to do that. (as long as it was reversable). Or simply go buy a new, similar amp from a small, independent amp builder.
To write with a broken pencil is pointless.
