Green Screen or Chroma Key Technology

Post by James Quillian »

For folks who have never done it, this is to cut the background out of a video so that the action can be placed against a different setting.

The following is a short tutorial on absolute cheapest and best way to make a green baackground to put behind videos.

For a video program I use Corel Paint Shop Pro-3x. Of the cheap softwares, it has the best chroma key function. Most of the others I have tried stink.

I bought "Green Screen Wizard" a while back and it worked great, although I just used it for photos. The version I bought integrated directly into Photoshop, so it was available on one of the drop down menus. Over the years, Photoshop has been updated a few times, and during the updates, the plug-ins you had don't get added to the updated versions. I haven't been able to find my receipt for buying it, so I haven't tried to get a new download of the software. And since I rarely used it, it's not worth buying again. I even had the big green screen with the scaffold type stand.
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide
and regular G tuning guitar) .
Playing for 55 years and still counting.

To actully make a video, I finish it with power director because corel really limps with respect to titles and a few other things. My only mode of operation is to do things as simple as possible. I may look at Green Screen Wizard. I will probably never upgrade unless corel further improves chroma key part of the program. For chroma key, power director stinks.
