Amp modeling VST's

Post by Howard Parker »

Those of you using the direct recording (100% in the box) approach for steel, I'm curious as to which amp/cab modeling VST's (if any) you've grown to love or hate.

I'll be running full blown Cubase, probably 7.5 eventually fwiw.

Thanks in advance.

I've been using the POD Farm 2 for everything lately, Steel, Lead and Bass. I don't have a "favorite" for steel, but I use the Twin Reverb model quite a bit.

I have others, such as the Peavey Revalver MKIII and some Overloud amp models that are including in Sonar X3 Producer, but I keep going back to the POD Farm models.

The POD Farm 2 also has some excellent reverbs and delays. It has an Echoplex model that is nice.

VST Guitar Amp modeling

I like Pod Farm very much for my 6 string guitar, however I wasn't all that crazy about it for pedal steel.

I'll probably try it again.
Here's another vst plug-in that I have (in addition to Pod Farm) that may interest you as well:

I haven't tried this one yet for pedal steel, but I feel like experimenting these days, so I'll be trying it out soon.
