Two Emmons trivia questions.

Post by Eric Philippsen »

I know there's a lot of knowledge out there, especially about Emmons.

1) I have had a steel guitar seat with an Emmons logo on it for maybe 20 years or more. Darn if I didn't actually take a close look at the logo the other day and notice it was made of metal instead of plastic. And here I thought those were always made in the form of a decal or a black or brown plastic badge. Were plastic logos preceded by metal ones? Or is it just something they put on pak-a-seats?

2) I have an SKH with a serial number of 2xxL. Approximately when was it made? How long were SKH's made before they switched to the LeGrande II series?

Thanks.

Thanks, Jack. Perhaps I'm mistaken in thinking that they were almost all plastic.

2xxL would be ca.'82, according to the late, great Bryan Adams.

Metal badges on Emmons guitars from '70-'71 till about '76, silver on clear body decals before that.

Mikes the man. And it would help to have the second digit. But I'm going to say 84.

The Lashely Legrande's (Long body's and key heads) started showing up in 86. But they may have released a few in 85.

I've only been able to come with around 385 short key heads. Not counting the custom ordered long body short keyed Emmons. But I have heard that they built just over 400.
