Good find Joachim. Ya Mike Campbell has always been one of my favorite guitarists.

Hey Joachim, thanks for posting that! I've been a fan of TP's and Mike Campbell's for a long time and I'd never heard that cover of the old Conway tune. It was an interesting arrangement and one that could be done by a country band with little effort. Tom's vocal was spot on and Mike's solo and fills were top notch... My favorite TP tune is "Mary Jane's Last Dance"...... He's a good 'un....JH in Va.

PS... Have you ever seen anything about the guitar collection they have? They have a bunch of classics and use 'em all the time on sessions and on the road....JH
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

Ya Jerry, their last album? "Mojo" had what guitars were used in recording the album. Couldn't name anything right offhand, pretty impressive list tho.I was probably thinking wow, must be nice. It was a good album too.

Jerry, since you mentioned their various guitars, I've found an interesting clip in an article about Mike Campbell:

Well, I really screwed up. A band I play in plays this song, so as a joke, I sent the link to the other band members. Now the bass player wants to do this version. At a gig yesterday, he played this version. It really sounded like crap. Let's see what happens tonight.
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro (D tuning), Recording King Professional Dobro (G tuning), NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide and regular G tuning guitar) .

Playing for 55 years and still counting.

I first heard this song on the second Flying Burrito Brothers album back in '71. I didn't know about Convay Twitty than. I'm told that there was a Country programm on AFN back than, but I wasn't aware. Everything I know about Country artists now, I've learned a few decades later.
