Officially announcing........
Well, I guess it's time to “officially” announce to the world the release of my newest CD endeavor titled Looking Back. (Ok Cohen, that’s one title you can’t use!) I have had this CD out for distribution since the week of the Dallas show but never really announced it here on the forum.
I am very pleased with the initial feedback I’ve gotten from the folks that purchased the CD at the TSGA show in March. I call this project my “baby boomer” album since most of the material dates back to the late 60’s, 70’s, or early 80’s. One of the songs is newer. I actually learned how to play Tears in Heaven (originally by Eric Clapton featuring steel by JayDee Maness) to play on a show in Saluda with my buddy Brett Day. It turned out to be a wonderful and moving experience and I decided to add it to the collection on this album. (Thanks Brett, and you too, JayDee)
I have more information and MP3s on several of the songs on my website http://www.tommydodd.com/pedal_steel_page4.htm if you’d care to listen.
Hope you enjoy them…....

I was over at Tommy and Donna's house a couple of weeks ago and was delighted when they gave me a copy of "In The Steel Of The Night" and "Looking Back". Tommy's CDs just keep getting better with each release. Get 'em while they're
hot!
I also got to see and pick a little on Tommy's new Superlide. Very nice guitar. Looks great and plays great. The quality and workmanship by MSA is superb. Also, Tommy's new keyless ZUM is a prize possession. How can a guy have six new guitars, two new cars, a beautiful new house, and a wonderful wife like Donna? Beats me! He must be doing SOMETHING right!

Tommy & Donna are two wonderful friends of mine and I'm glad to know them. They helped me to start playing shows and they are both wonderful people! Tommy and I play our steels together onstage snd he's got steels made by one of my favorite steel companies-Zumsteel. Tommy & Donna, I love y'all! Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10

Tommy has really outdone himself this time. Everyone knows that he always plays great but what sets this CD apart is the thought and efforts that went into producing and arranging this particular selection of tunes. This is one of those albums for the masses, not just we steel players. It's right up there on my wife's list of pop favorites like Jim Cohen's "Finally Here" and Al Vescovo's "Man of Steel". On second thought, maybe she just likes it because Tommy is a great dancer
(Those who have seen Tommy and Audra dance during my local steel show sets will get the humor here.)
Finally, the tune "Spinning Wheel" is a nice opportunity to hear the tasty guitar chops of world class player and Atlanta native Bill Hatcher. Bill is a frequent forum poster.
Buy it soon! They won't last long!

I just wanted to drop a note of thanks in here. I appreciate the kind words of those of you above, and the private emails I've gotten, concerning the new album project. It sure has helped to have some MP3s on my revised website for people to listen to.
And Bill C., thanks for letting me dance with that good-lookin' wife of yours. Audra even lets me lead! (Donna never lets me lead her anywhere....)
