Words of wisdom from Chet
All his many accomplishments and he remained truly humble and grateful. Great advice for musicians and anyone who could use a good life lesson.

I really enjoyed that, thanks.
Chet was very good to a friend of mine and urged him to move to Nashville and then took him under his wing. Since then, he's enjoyed a very nice career.

In 1978, I moved to Nashville to take a job repairing and building instruments at “The Old Time Pickin’ Parlor”. The OTPP at that time was primarily an acoustic guitar shop and I was the resident electric guitar guy. Within just a few weeks of taking my new job, in pops Paul Yandell. I did a few jobs for Paul not knowing he had been Chet’s sideman for quite a few years.
So one day, in comes Paul again, this time with Chet in tow. To be honest, I had of course heard the name Chet Atkins but was not that familiar with Chet’s career so I was never intimidated.......I dove right in working on Chet’s guitars. It was only after some time had passed that I really knew who I was working with!
I worked on Chet’s guitars for quite a few years after that and he helped me in so many ways. Seems he never missed an opportunity to help someone else or cast a little of his own light their way. When I reflect back on Chet, I believe that if it weren't for the greatness of his own talent, he might well be better known for the careers he helped develop.
Thanks for the link.....I had never seen that!
