I'm not affiliated with this company other than buying a tuner from them! I'm playing a little more dobro these days and was in need of an acoustic tuner like the ones you see clamped at the headstock. I wound up at Sweetwater.com and found a Fender for just $12.99 and it shipped free. Everybody else wanted at least twice this price. So I figured they're all about the same so I ordered it. I got a call the next day from a guy there just checking on my address and asked me how I'd found them. I've heard of them for years but never bought anything and it turned out we knew a lot of the same people. So I got my order the next day with a catalog and an order form and even some candy in the box and I got all this for a $12.99 order. I'll think about them the next time I need something too.

I've bought a lot of my recording studio equipment from them and my MB200 amp as they offer a "free" second year warranty on most items.

I had a 30 day demo version of Pro Tools 10 and was trying to get a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 audio interface unit to connect in Pro Tools 10 (it was listed as compatible). No one could help me with it including Avid and Focusrite. I contacted my Sweetwater Sales Rep and he got their tech support on the problem and they came up with how to get Pro Tools 10 to recognize and install it.

They're not like your run-of-the-mill "big box" store. I've got a friend that teaches recording and studio techniques at a nearby college---They'll place a 10,000.00 order, and when it comes in, the kids are all over the place---looking for the candy! GREAT people to do business with. And it never hurts to ask for a lower price  !

I have done business with them in the past, but not so much lately. Their business model involves constant telephone communication with customers. Once you buy from them, you can't get rid of them. The phone calls from my "sales engineer" were intrusive and unending until I demanded they stop contacting me.

On the other hand, they are one of the few companies still publishing a huge catalog.

I never hear from my sales rep. Only when I buy something.

Among "that kind" of place, they are by far my favorite. And I did find the buddy-buddy sales calls somewhat intrusive, but I just asked - not demanded! - and they snipped me off that list. As I understand it, their sales model probably offers the best alternative for the widest variety of customers. I tend to know exactly what I want, as do many, so you just have to tell 'em that... but say you're a church pastor who has just gotten $5,000 to improve and/or replace the church's P.A. system, and you don't know doodly (about P.A.'s  ); if your first sales guy is the "bass guy", he'll shuffle you over to the "P.A. guy" and they'll split the commission. And they don't run loss leaders, decoys or other snake-oil B.S, or try to push you towards the $7,000 system (not too much  ).

I mean, if you compare that to the staff of ex-spurts at the Musician's Fiend/Woodwinds & Brass/ Guitar Center/ and now Harmony-Central?) behemoth.... whose
team is made up of industry pros who live and breathe the musical craft and use their expertise to get you the best deals on the widest selection of music instruments and music gear found anywhere.

I like Sigler Music for pickups too, there's a lady there who knows more about pickups than half the guys who wind 'em. :)
