Gary Burton offering free Jazz Improvisation course

Post by Mike Neer »

This is a great opportunity for those who would like to learn about improvisation. Gary Burton is a great musician (hey, he played vibes on Hank Garland's Jazz Winds LP) and he is the former dean and executive vice president of Berklee School of Music (he retired in '04).

Course begins April 22 and is geared for the beginner.

Like I said, a great opportunity.

Wow! How cool! I bought the "Duster" album from the Gary Burton Quartet back in 60's....then I worked and saved for a Gibson Super 400 to try and learn to improvise on. The magic effect that album had on me was really profound, but like "General Mojo's Well Laid Plan" I soon traded the Super 400 in on a Shobud and went somewhere else. I miss that guitar and that direction. Just listening to Gary is like taking a master class! Studying from him must be amazing!
