Pandora internet music radio-

I don't know if everyone knows this or not. I would think that everyone does, but then again, maybe not. If you go to pandora.com you can listen to FREE internet radio, the best part is, you can set up your own radio stations. My personal favorites are Gene Watson and Merle Haggard. I put one of those two stations on and let it go all day long and it just plays one awesome song after another.

Now somehow, my Son downloaded a patch that eliminated the commercials/stops etc. So it just plays non stop. It's awesome and it's free.

Now, here is yet another tip. If you have Audacity, you can have that running at the same time on you PC and if you hear a song you like, hit record and record that song. Then export it and you can save it as a wav file and then convert it to an MP3 if you so wish. It's quick and easy to use once you do it. That's the nice thing about Audacity, you can record ANYTHING that you can play/listen to on your PC and save it, export it, save it as a project which then means you can then add additional unlimited tracks too etc.

And as I mentioned in another thread, if you have your PC patched into your PA system as I do, plug your instruments into your PA head and or mixer, patch that into your PC, presto, you can then record directly into Audacity with unlimited tracks etc. and have complete control of the mix etc.

Powerful, simple, easy to use stuff if you have a PC and a mixer/PA. Audacity is free and Pandora is free, can't go wrong!

Joe, apparently you son subscribed to Pandora...the charge is $36. a year and there's no advertisements....for music I also like Nora Jones, and for 30's and 40's music the Inkspots, or Tommy Dorsey. I haven't subscribed and only get several 20-second advertisements per hour.

I'm not sure exactly what he did but I do not get the annoying commercials anymore. I do enjoy the hours and hours of Gene Watson and Merle Haggard tunes!

Just so you guys know this is totally against the Pandora "Terms of use" agreement and RIAA laws.
It is illegal to record, copy, or save, streamed copyrighted music.
So be careful about telling people on a public forum how to do it.

Rut row, I didn't realize that. I'll blame it on my bad vision. I'll just say that it works in theory, not that I have done it or that I would recommend doing it...

My problem with Pandora is: when you select an artist choice to tailor the listening, Pandora segues into choices that tend towards artists that rarely can be catagorized or compared with the selected artist. Usually, these tend to be pop or widely recognized artists... even if your artist choice isn't. This is understandable since your account history is most likely used as marketing information, disseminated to music industry concerns by Pandora.

I've found, the only way to control the 'genre drift' is to either continuously monitor and edit the music or; Create a 'channel' with very esoteric artists. Two of my favorite 'channel' choices are Karlheinz Stockhausen and Charles Wuorinen. Pandora doesn't stray very far from the type of music indicative of these two composers. John Zorn's Naked City is another choice of which Pandora doesn't digress into music totally unrelated.

Hmm I don't know about all that. What I do know is that I have selected three channels now and I love pretty much everything they play on them. I've added Gary Stewart and now I listen to his channel pretty much all the time now!
