And "Big and Rich" is back, for something...
But at least Paul Franklin is nominated in the musician category!
Even George Strait wonders "where do I fit in this mess?" (see article)

And I don't need to be reminded that Snoop is not and will never be Buck or Waylon. But I think we could cut Willie a little slack.... But the passage of time often puts the music in a different context. Buck Owens was once taken to task for rocking too much. Waylon Jennings' outlaw sound was considered daring and progressive. Ronnie Milsap's music was sometimes branded as outside of the box. All of those artists are generally regarded as traditional acts in 2012. So it's a sure bet that some of the music that's currently testing country's boundaries will one day be considered oldschool, and safely traditional.
"I can distinctly remember somebody calling me when I played Alabama's'My Home's in Alabama' in 1980 or '81," KVOO's Poteet says. "They said, 'Get that s%$# off the radio. It ain't country.' It's the same cycle over and over again."
A CMA show with a pop/rock star present did happen over the years (sorta 90% country/10% rock); now it's a CMA show with 90% rock/pop, with 10% country (if you're lucky). There is a difference....Alvin Blaine wrote:When was Country Music never influence by pop music? What 150 years ago maybe!!
Why are people still shocked by this when it has been going on longer than ANY of you have been on this earth??
Now think back to the last time you saw a Country Music Award show that did NOT have some major pop artist on, either singing, presenting, or even accepting an award? The answer is NEVER!
