David Ball had a song by that name on his "Starlight Lounge" cd. Paul Franklin is the steel player on that cd.

There's also an old Connie Smith song with that title, written by Dallas Frazier.

It seems we're discussing two different songs...

"That's Why I'm Walkin" (Stonewall Jackson)

and "I've Got My Baby On My Mind" (Connie Smith)

The fact that the first song starts out with the exact words of the title of the second song makes it rather...confusing.

Both songs are on YouTube, though.

Not "exactly", Donny.

Stonewalls' song starts with the line "I've Got My ANGEL On My Mind.

I still think this song he is looking for is by Connie Smith, that she did in Sept. 2011 using Marty Stuarts band with I believe, Gary Carpenter on steel. The only other woman Iv'e heard do this, is named Sonya Lynn DeMarco and she did it at Gilleys', using the Gilley stage band. It is on YouTube as well.

After some research, it indeed appears to be a young Connie Smith from 1974. That leads me to believe that it might be Weldon on steel..

Jeannie Seely had a version of it as well. Same song, but very different arrangement.

Ray, I think you'd get an answer faster if you contacted DJ directly rather than going through the SGF. Here is the last known contact info that I have for him. Let us know what you find out. Personally, I'm going with Pete Finney - Connie with Weldon.

Ray made it clear weeks ago that he was NOT talking about the Connie Smith record but a different version of the same song... And there's even a link to the version he's asking about.

OK, I am now waiting for Ray's final decision based on all the previous information offered here plus his anticipated contact with either Doug Jernigan or someone else in the know. Ray you are apparently in possession of an undocumented version of this song that nobody else except you has ever heard, since you are implying that your version is different than all these others. Please email it to me as well, as I'd like to hear it.

Pete, http://picosong.com/wi3C sounds like Connie and Weldon to me. That's all I'm sayin' ...

You've got to be kidding. That doesn't sound anything like Connie Smith. The steel playing is very cool though, whoever it is....
