Anybody still have SiriusXM?

Post by Ellis Miller »

SiriusXM changed their programming a year or so ago and stopped playing many of the artists lots of us enjoyed. If there is anyone with a subscription, I would like to know if anything has changed since the uproar - if the Country Music programming has gotten any better.

I have it but I never listen to country, Jazz is my favorite genre, and I also listen to gospel occasionally.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

I still have it. I spoke with Dallas Wayne in St. Louis and he told me they were allowing more of the Texas style country music to be played. I have noticed that over the past month or two. Dallas will play Johnny Bush, Amber Digby, Bobby Flores, Tony Booth, Darrell McCall, Curtis Potter and some others that could name but I hate to type so I didn't. It is getting better, maybe not like it was over a year ago but better since then.

I plan on getting my XM hooked back up in order to listen to the Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale radio show. With those 2, no way it's not a great show.

I decided not to pay for radio when they decided years ago to give Howard Stern a half-billion dollars to join them. As if that wasn't enough money, he turned around this year and tried (unsuccessfully) to sue them for another 300 million.

I don't believe the quality of my life has suffered without either one of them.

yes I have it, a lifetime subscription..I find value value..I listen to many stations..Country, Rock , Jazz, Bluegrass etc...

I really don't care if Howard Stern is on the radio for big bucks.. That's like saying I'm not watching Cable or Satellite TV because they have Tom Cruise movies where he gets paid north of 20 million for each movie.....

Does anybody remember when radio and television were free?

Actually, they never were free. Someone else was paying for it. ;)

Sounds a bit like free healthcare. :D

Oh, and as to the original question, I cancelled mine earlier this year. My vehicles can both play directly from a USB stick.

Ok, I'll put it another way - I never got a monthly bill for any of it...

I knew what you meant, Barry. Just knit picking silliness at lunchtime. ;)

I hope they do well and I my get back on to it someday. Right now, I'm enjoying listening to all the recordings I have acquired over the years and a few additions via iTunes and downloads. Nice to hear the pure country stuff is again being featured.

If there was a "traditional" commercial country music radio station locally (or at least that I could receive) I wouldn't consider Sirius/XM. Until I got a new car with statellite installed, its been years since I listened to commercial country radio.

I noticed this, too. I've heard more of the of the artist you mentioned, Ben. After the change to 56 they weren't doing any of that Texas shuffle style. Now I hear a little of it.

The pendelum is always swinging.

Just about the time you might get to thinkin'..."Hey, maybe they got their act together, the tunes are great..", someone will screw it up again in the name of "improving listener experience".

Someone always has to fix what ain't broke..............

My worst encounter with this was with a sudden stoppage on an AT&t Long Lines transcontinental telephone link from New Jersey to Amsterdam. Took a year to find the switch someone threw "arbitrarily".

A years subscription came free with my 2008 MKX, and I may have logged 10 hours listening to it, but I have never renewed. I just don't spend that much time in my car anymore.
