Hi guys, I've just joined the forum, and this is my first post. My name's Troy Brenningmeyer. I normally play and teach Dobro on my site www.LessonsWithTroy.com, but I've recently started teaching Lap Steel tuned to Open D as well.
I'm not sure about the etiquette on here. So please let me know if I'm out of line posting a couple links to some YouTube samples of some of my Lap Steel lessons.
For those who don't know, Troy is right up there with the best and most innovative resonator guitar teachers. And he is extremely generous - much of the material he makes freely available is so good and so clear that he undercuts his own market for his lessons!
Troy will I see you again at Resosummit this year? Seems to me that maybe you said somewhere that you aren't coming, but it would be great to see you.

I agree with this completely. I started playing Dobro about 2-1/2 years ago and I am where I am today thanks to Troy. I now have a lsp steel and the important thing for me is that Troy will be teaching in open D and open G tunings. I also have a Weissenborn, Electric Lap Steels, and Oahu and Bronson Acoustic Lap Guitars, so these are crossover tunings for every instrument I "play", I think Troy has teaching down to a science and I want to thank him for everything he has done to help me.

Hey Brad! Nope, I've went 4 or 5 years now, always hearing about this forum, but never joining or posting anything. Glad to see you're the moderator! Can't wait to get back out to San Fran. You gotta tell us some of your new-found eateries. Also, I saw an episode of "The Layover" with Anthony Bourdain, and he was visiting all of these off the beaten path/hole in the wall places in San Francisco. It was really interesting.

Hey Troy, always enjoyed your posts and teachings on 'resonation' and also on youtube. I didn't join resonation this year, but I miss reading and listening to all the posts over there. Are you at liberty to tell me what the fees are to re-join 'resonation' now? thanks

Hi Terry, don't quote me on this, but I think it's around $6.00 per year. I'm sure there's other's that are members there that may be able to chime in as well.

Good to see you here Troy! I just want to say that Troy's lessons for the Dobro have helped me alot with the PSG as well, clear, concise, well made, easy to understand.
do you have anything for open E or E7 tuning ? I could always just get the open D video and to learn cool licks then just transpose them since its tuned the same way just lower. Do you have any intermediate/advanced vids ? I mostly use the lapsteel for country/folk music.
