Well just got my copy of Albert Lees DVD and it has some great picking on it, then I am a little bias I guess.

I got my copy too. What as awsome DVD its blue ray so the picture quality and audio is mind blowing.
One of the fastest pickers in the world appears on it, and Albert Lee aint bad either

I'm quite amazed by Ray Smith playing the guitar part, because I thought it was Mr. Lee on the record.

I had the pleasure of seeing Albert Lee and John Jorgensen on tour last year. Every tune was a sort of "Battle of the Bands" between the two of them (Country Boy, Orange Blossom Special etc)- they were obviously having a great time playing together and kept increasing the difficulty factor on jaw-dropping licks on alternate breaks. Fasten your seatbelts!

The mix on this is especially great: subdued drums, bass, and piano, and the harmony singing isn't competing with him. Staggeringly good!

Randle is playing his MSA paisley guitar. I think his tone is really good and some of the best steel playing going on this DVD.
The cheapest place I found online to order this is trhough CD univers.

Well, to be frank, I did listen...to the whole DVD album, and I've heard probably a dozen other versions of Ray doing "Country Boy", too. And though it's just my own insignificant opinion, nothing on the entire DVD album, either in sound or flat out pickin' prowess, compares with the clip I posted.

You see, I think players of all descriptions sometimes do "once in a lifetime" performances, those where everything just comes together and "clicks". To me, that clip was one of them.

But, for those Flacke-a-holics that want more variety, the DVD is certainly a good purchase.

Donny, the only reason I bought this DVD (no diss to Albert cause he is awsome), is to watch my favorite steel player. Its hard to find anything out on DVD so that is why I mentioned it in the steel forum. I thought that there might be more fans out there who would love to get it for the same reason as me. I didnt really want to pick the DVD apart, just enjoy awsome steel talent.

I understand, Quentin. If you're looking for DVD stuff with pedal steel, the choices are pretty limited. It wasn't my intention to pick apart the DVD, but I guess with this being an upscale production, I expected the audio and video quality to be better...something along the lines of the "Time Jumpers" DVD. (The mere fact that it's BlueRay doesn't do a thing for me.) The pedal steel on the DVD is a bonus, but there is just less of it than I would have expected. Your perspective and my perspective are just different, that's all. Neither is good or bad; please understand that.

I have many things in my audio and video collection that excite and inspire me, but many others would probably see them as quite plain and ordinary. I understand and accept that as perfectly normal, so I don't get upset with people if they don't like what I do.

I think part of the Albert's ( and Jerry Donahue's) fastness is that they ad open strings notes, whenever they fit into their runs. I've tried it and I failed. $:\$
