Sneaky Pete Announcement!

Post by Anita Kleinow »

I thought you all would like to know that Sneaky Pete Kleinow will be awarded the LA Music Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award, in November!

I wish you all could have seen his face when I told him! He is so happy and so proud and of course, if any of you know him, VERY HUMBLE.

I don't have all the info yet, but I will let everyone at Steel Guitar Forum know when I do.

Thank you, Anita

Congradulations to one of my favorite players, in fact just yesterday I was playing "The Legend & The Legacy" for a friend of mine.

He really deserves the award!

My best, Craig Stock

and no wonder have you ever seen his discography? http://sneakypetekleinow.com/
it's fitting that this is a music award considering all of the new venues and genres he has introduced the pedal steel to by being so original and good

And that is just the tip of the iceberg, EBB!
I'm writing a book on my father and even though I was there, to see his entire history is incredible.

Thank you all, for your support.

What a fine tribute to a great musician and one of the most innovative steel guitarists. Pete's Oscar awards ain't nothing to look down upon either. It's a rare experience when somone has the talented dexterity to conquer two different fields of expertise and be acknowledged for his God given talents.

Way to go Pete. You are one of my hero's and one of the reasons I'm sitting behind this pedal steel. Congrats! Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. Oh P.S. whenever I feel a little stress entering my life I hit the play button and listen to "Sister". Thanks Pete!

Congratulations Pete. It is so good to see one of the foundation players of the steel guitar get this recognition. Thanks for all the years of great creativity, innovations, and playing. Jody.

Cool. I just watched "Festival Express" (1970) last night and there was a live piece with the Flying Burrito Brothers, "Lazy Day," featuring Sneaky Pete. Image

Pete,

Congratulations. You know how I feel about your playing. I created the "Steels On Wheels" CD as a humble tribute to your style and accomplishments. You're still tops!

What a mentor on how to play song...I still wear needles throught the FBB tunes...my favorites being, Close Up the Honkytonks and the Chuck Berry tribute. Man, what a player. Sneaky Pete's award is well earned.

Sneaky was one of the first steel players to
give me the bug to take up the instrument.
He has always had his own style and I like it.

Pete always amazed me in how he could play all those licks that weren't on his guitar? How he could do it on 8 strings when it takes the rest of us 10, 12, or 20 to do it! A real individual and one of the greatest at playing from the heart! JH in Va.

Dittos, Kudos, to the player who always kept me going back to the bars... not the ones with the stools--The Steel ones! Still inspired by that lively tone and touch..steady-on Pete! JZ
