I absolutely hated them when they first came out. Still can't stand "Chicken Fried". But, I have loved everything they have done since.

I love their song "Highway Twenty Ride". On the CMA Awards of 2011, they did "Georgia On My Mind" and Clay Cook, the multi-istrumentalist in the band played a Sho-Bud steel. He plays steel, guitar, mandolin, and other instruments. The fiddle player, Jimmy DeMartini is the band's tenor vocalist. I'm a Zac Brown Band fan.

I've heard them on TV a few times, once backing up James Taylor. I liked them quite a bit.

I played on the original (pre-label) release of Chicken Fried, and have known Zac and some of the band for years. Bassist John Hopkins has run a studio at 800 East here in Atlanta for years, and shows off his amazing voice in his own band "Brighter Shade". Clay Cook is a freak of nature- he can play nearly anything extremely well. Besides having played steel, keys, and guitar with Marshall Tucker, he was John Mayer's songwriting partner on the first album, and my bandmate (playing bass) in the original incarnation of Sugarland.
Zac has a great philosophy encompassing helping out his label mates, and extending his empire into cooking, leathermaking, various charities...
They have a lot going on there, with some truly outstanding musicianship.

not so fast there, theresa. this band turned me off at first because of the leaders watchcap look. i hear with my eyes to a certain extent. their earlier media presentations didn't impress me ...lots of flailing as oppoosed to soulful or grooving. he seems to be a decent guy though.

I've always liked " The Zac Brown Band " . Wish they used more steel . It was nice to hear it on the awards show . A lot of their songs would sound very good with a steel in the mix .

Why do some of you start these threads, asking for opinions, and then when it doesn't go the direction you wanted, you ask that they be closed? If you aren't prepared to hear all angles of these subjects, then don't open the can of worms.

As for Zac Brown Band, I've never heard them, but I checked them out on youtube. I can honestly say I like them as well as I do most of the other newer "country" artist. I heard the Chicken Fried novelty song. I don't know if it was intended for a novelty or not, but that's how I took it.

Remember, the same guy that did "He Stopped Loving Her Today", also did Yabba Dabba Do, the King is gone and so are you"

Basically, No. I find No Hurry pleasant due to the song form and changes though.

I'm not a big fan of Zac's visual on stage persona and I don't enjoy watching their performances, so I don't.

I first heard them a few years ago before they became "award winning country recording stars". My 20 something daughter insisted that I go to a local Atlanta bar and hear then with her and her friends as they had become big fans while they were attending UGA in Athens. ZBB was big on the college town circuit I suppose. They were very good pickers but hardly could be labeled "country" in spite of having a fiddle player IMO. Fast forward a couple of years and the Nashville machine has minted another great country artist/group. From the business aspect it appears like it's Sugarland deaux to me. Can't fault good musicians taking the opportunity to make a buck though! Good for them

Boring, then again I was lucky enough to hear the greats on Lower Broad and elsewhere in the late 60s thru the late 70s on a semi-regular basis. I'm spoiled.
