Shelby Lynne
Finally got to fulfill one of my dreams last night. I got to see Shelby in concert. Just her, a guitar, and 90 minutes of sheer bliss. What a beautiful voice. I was disappointed that she didn't play any of her older "country" stuff, but was very satisfied after the concert. One of my favorite female singers of all time. She did an acapella version of one of the songs off her Dusty Springfield tribute album that just put everyone in the audience (including me) into a trance. Just awesome.
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro (D tuning), Recording King Professional Dobro (G tuning), NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide and regular G tuning guitar) .
Playing for 55 years and still counting.

I've been a Shelby Lynne fan for 25 years. I lived in Mobile, AL in the mid 80's and Shelby was a local girl who was just being discovered in Nashville as a teenager. I remember seeing her on Ralph Emery's show on several occasions. She always had a huge voice. Interesting to see her musical shifts over the years from country to jazzier "torch" songs, popular, rock, roots, and back again. Somewhat similar to Linda Ronstadt's musical "stages". John Hughey and Weldon Myrick play steel on her "Restless" CD. Shelby and Allison Moorer are sisters...both very talented singers.

Allison is great too. I just got turned onto her withing the past 6 months or so. Thankfully, there are a ton of YouTube videos of both of them, even some with them singing together.

I've seen Shelby and Allison sing multiple times, and a couple years ago in San Francisco at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass they put on a nice set as a sister duet.
I liked how Shelby would refer to her younger sister on stage as "Sissy." I'm a real sucker for that kind of stuff.
Both very talented ladies, and their personal story of tragedy over the death of their parents as teenagers could derail some people for life, but they have risen above it in a big way.

Unfortunately, there was an ad on the local craigslist (Washington DC Metro Area) a few days ago that she had a lot of her gear stolen. I think from April 27th.
It mentioned that the descriptions of what was stolen would be on her website. There was a Gibson guitar, a Martin mandolin among other items.
