Here's "Shotgun Boogie" performed By "Jumpin' Okie Jones" on one of the Ganoway shows in Nashville, from the mid 1950s. Walter Haynes played steel guitar on this tune.

I just saw Okie at the Country Music Hall of Fame on 31 March. He and his wife came to my Marty Robbins book release event. They live near Nashville. Okie spent many years as Marty's bus driver, and he helped Marty in all his businesses. I did a phone interview with him several years ago, and his information contributed greatly to Marty's biography.

Okie used to play on the Cowtown Hoedown here in Ft.Worth,Tx. in 1957. I don't remember if he was a guest or regular at the time. Tracy

Okie was a part of Jimmy Dickens' road group/act in the mid 50's when Buddy Emmons joined the band. According to Buddy the genius idea of guitar players cutting a mohawk hair cut on one of the gigs was Okie's. Little Jimmy Dickens didn't think much of it and ordered them to shave their heads and made them wear these hats:
