Gene O'Quin Got The Best Voice Ever In Hillbilly Music. This song was recorded in the early 50s on Capitol Records.
Gene O'Quin was born in Dallas, Texas 1931, Gene first made a musical impression by winning a talent contest on the Big D Jamboree. The Jamboree manager, Al Turner, became Gene`s manager and secured his first recording deal in 1949 with talent records. Finally Gene made it to a regular spot on the Jamboree itself, where he was spotted by a Capitol talent scout. He auditioned for Lee Gillette and secured that vital contract. He recorded for capitol betweeen 1950-1954.

Steel sounds like Speedy West not using any of his
special effects.
Gene O'Quin also became a regular on Cliffie Stone's
Hometown Jamboree TV show and the "Dinnerbell Roundup" radio show at Noon on KXLA. He also made many personal appearances on the "Club Scene" in So.Calif. Just about all us Sidemen backed Gene up at one time or another.
