What's Up with Spotify?

Post by Jim Cohen »

What's up with Spotify? I have some of my digital mp3s available for streaming through them but they pay such a ridiculously trivial amount (something like $0.0002 per streaming) that I'm thinking of pulling the plug on them. I'd rather make no money at all than such an insulting amount (a fraction of a penny per listen). Anyone else have any experience with them?

Yeah, as you can clearly see, Spotify is the worst of the worst, from the artist's perspective. And to learn that it is the megacorporations like Sony who own it really ticks me off. They're just looking for another way to screw the independent musician. I have just removed all my recordings from their distribution service. They can throw their (fractions of) pennies at someone else. And good riddance.
