Dallas-The Thursday "preliminary show".

Post by Jim Saunders »

If you go to the Dallas convention, you should take in the thursday evening "jam". Some of the guys playing this warm-up are real talents. Case in point this year was Jody Cameron's set. Wow!, he is fantastic. Flawless technique, great song selection, a masterful player. He belongs on the big stage.
[This message was edited by Jim Saunders on 14 March 2005 at 08:30 PM.]

Jim,
I have set on the stage with Jody Cameron and jammed with him. It is hard to play when you have to set next to him and listen to the great things that he does on a steel guitar; and not only that, he is a great guy to know.............

Thanks Jim and Tommy. I had a great time at the show this year, and enjoyed playing with Roy Rosetta and the rest of the great staff band.

Jody for sure is one monster player! I’ve had the pleasure and honor to not only play steel next to him, but had the privilege to play bass for him on a couple of different projects. The genre of music made no difference to Jody……he excelled on all. We did a show playing Scrapple for the Apple in unison….what a hoot! A real gentleman and just a great all around person and I am blessed to have him as my friend.

We’re going to hear a lot more from him in the coming months…..oh, and don’t forget to purchases his new CD…..true country steel playing at it’s best with a few special guest singers and players that we’ve all heard of, Bobby Flores & Johnny Bush to name a couple. This is a must have for your listening pleasure and CD collection….just great!

I’m sure it will be available from the Forum in the very near future or contact Jody direct.

The "jam" on Thursday has certainly taken on a different personality. Those of you who come to Dallas should come in on Thursday and be entertained by some of the super players, who because of time constraints, are not on the main show. Example, Jody Cameron !!!
I have been trying to get to one of the Sunday sessions that the club in Houston puts on for some time, in hopes that I would get to work a set with Jody Cameron. Well friends, my wait came to an end in Dallas, and it was well worth the wait. Jody just blew me away (like I knew he would) with his great talent. He gave me his new CD "A Trip To The Country" and it is a winner. If you don't have it in your collection you should get it soon.....you then will appreciate what I'm saying.
Thanks for the "ride" Jody and we hope to see you soon.

I got one of Jody's CDs at the TSGA Jamboree last week, and wowee!... excellent playing by a great player. And a fine gentleman as well.

Yes, the Thursday night thing is turning into a show equal to the other 3 days performances.

I take great pride in knowing that I started Jody Cameron on steel guitar. He has developed into one of the best players out there. His touch, tone, and creativity is excellent. Hopefully he will be on the main stage next year. Jody.
