Gretchen Wilson will be a part of the pre-game show for this years Super Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida. As far as I know we will be sharing the stage with Charlie Daniels and a few other non-country acts. Thanks to Jim Frost and the good folks at Melobar, I should have my new Skreemer guitar just in time for me to play it on the show. It's red & white! I will be using it on Gretchen's song "Here For The Party" which is all lap steel. Tune in if you can.

"Please..someone tell her to check her wardrobe for malfunctions..."
Gretchen - Okay
Gaylon - Please check your wardrobe for malfunctions.
Gaylon, Good seeing you at the NTSGA January Jam.
I'll be watching the Super Bowl.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to have questions for you about that guitar once you get it. Been interested in the new products--the skreemer in particular--and I'm most interested to hear your impressions of it. Stuff like string spacing, comfort of playing (neck angle and stuff) and, of course, sound.
Good luck, hope the guitar is great, keep your eyes open for those wardrobe malfunctions because we will be on tape delay and won't get to see them so we'll be counting on eyewitness descriptions.
Hi Gaylon, Those melobar guys are based up here in Idaho. I have not met them yet, but would like to try one of their guitars one day. Just want to say you're doing a great job with Gretchen, and wish you the best of luck.
[This message was edited by Will Sevy on 23 January 2005 at 08:37 PM.]

Always knew you'de make it one day. Congratulations!! We'll be watching. Got a widescreen for xmas. Can't wait to see your new guitar. Be safe and God Bless...Myra
Well, ya know, I was the token steel player so I got shoved to the side. But, I guess I was in a better spot than Charlie's keyboard guy who was behind me. Besides, there was a bunch of good lookin' hens around the stage that coulda caught me if I'd of fell off. (wishful thinkin' huh)
My parts on that song are the wah wah sounds on each chorus and a couple of licks elswhere. Otherwise, I'm not playing. During the Charlie Daniels tune I had my volume off and was just pretending to play since there is no lap steel in that tune. Everyone said the sound was screwed up in the beginning. Makes me wonder why we had two full days of rehearsal for our segment. Dean is the new guy in the band and I guess some folks didn't like his worn out jeans. I didn't realize anything had been said about it. Oh, well....I had my ASSets covered well.
Gaylon,
Congrats on a great gig!
It doesn't get any more high-profile than what you've been doing...the Superbowl, the Today Show, huge concerts,etc.....good for you.
Is it as much fun as I think it is?
Gaylon, I wonder about the "rehearsals" too somtimes. We've worked shows at Silver Springs Park (Ocala, Fl) and they required us to be there a 9 AM for sound checks (we would go on at noon) but we wouldn't get to do anything until 5 minutes before we were on. The artist(s) we were opening for would take all the rehersal/sound check time. When it came time for us, they would mount the mics (for the amps) and shove monitors in front of us and they would do the "mix" during the first couple of songs.
Silver Springs has two separate boards. They have one board on stage for the monitors and a separate board out in the audience for the "main" speakers.
I worked the Plant City (Fl) Strawberry Festival with Tommy Cash two years ago, we were the "main" act and on that venue it wasn't any better. We set up and did a sound check but then they moved all our equipment as they needed the room for one of the opening acs (a cloggers troupe). When we got ready to go on, we had to go through the checks again.
I just know this will get me flamed BUT I don't get the interest in this gal. She's cute and looks good in videos but whoever writes her material needs to be "let go". Her whole "I'm tuff chick" routine grows tiring more each time you hear her and I'd bet one more CD and she'll be MIA. She's hot now and did win a Grammy which gurantees nothing but I still think she's just the flavor of the day, Nashville-style.
I'm glad Gaylon has a great gig---hope he works forever!
She can sing, thats a bonus for what is coming out of that town these days. I agree in that I`m not nuts over the party songs either, but some folks are..I think she sings a ballad real well and a couple cuts on her cd are very nice. I am also glad Gaylon has a cool gig..

Sorry I missed your pre superbowl show, but I was busy playing drums for alot of your Georgia buddies at Jerry Braswell's show in Atlanta, and didn't make it home in time. All in all, it sounds like it was a good show. Congradulations on a great gig.
