Post Modernism

Post by Guy Cundell »

The postmodern music movement that has evolved since the 70s has thrown up some interesting hybrids. Adaptation and recontexting of traditional forms in new and innovative ways breaths new life and vigour into our art form.

My favorite by far is the Metallica Smooth Jazz version of Enter Sandman.

I havent seen his vids before, thanks. Enter Sandman sure was a good one. And then he turns ABBA into a heavy metal shredfest. I thought his guitar melody and banjo chord progression to Eminem's spoken rap was pure comedy and a bit of musical genius.

I almost wet my pants. Andy Rehfeldt has too much time on his hands.

A real postmodern event has been accidentally scheduled in my home town, Adelaide, though perhaps it will be more of a John Cage moment when Ennio Morricone has been programed to conduct the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in an outdoor concert when less than 2k away Iron Maiden is also doing an outdoor stadium sized gig. Could be interesting.
