i've used my peavey bandit 112 (old cabinet model) for steel and really liked it with the scorpion 12in. now it's got a like new black widow flat magnet spider web 12in. and it sounds great. played a bar gig last night and it was super. sac steel player rich cottle was using one last time i saw him also with his mullen and the tone was really good.
these amps can be had for $100 if you can find one.

The older bass amps sound excellent also. I recently acquired a nice condition "Peavey TKO 80" built in the '70's from the local Guitar Center. I initially decided to resell the unit (it was an impulse buy, already had too many amps), but after using it for a while, decided that it was definitely a keeper.
