On the George Morgan cut, wasn't that J.D. Maness playing a Fender 1000 steel ?

Very cool going through the history of the tune.. Glen Campbell totally rocked it on the GMorgan version.

Also the chord progression got much more sophisticated .

That's great! Hats off to Ceele Burke. At 1:38 & 1:55, on the 1937 Fats Waller side, the clarinet player plays some licks that wouldn't be out of place on a Charlie Parker record.

Billy Tonnesson - I believe that's Jay MacDonald playing the Fender pedal steel on the "Star Route" footage. If so - that's a rare clip of him playing live. Here is a photo of Jay MacDonald from the "Buck Owens - On the Bandstand" LP:

Of course, Leon is incredible on the ET show footage!!!

RK - not too sure about Gene Davis' steel player.
I don't think thats the same guy on the Buck records, tho - unless his ears shrunk... that guy in the clip was blessed with some bigguns.

Bill Cutright - You're right - it doesn't look like Jay MacDonald on the "Star Route " clip. Bad guess on my part. Kenny Baker had ears like that, too.

That show was filmed in Canada, I think Toronto, and they used local players in the house band.

Once at a Commander Cody/LPA show a guy hollered for My Window Faces The South, and Cody merely relpied "too bad...".
