I'm thrilled and honored to be playing on this show this year. It'll be my first trip to Ireland, which I've long wanted to visit, and I know the show is gonna be excellent, cuz Doug Jernigan said so!

After the show, I'm planning to get in a rental car and drive to Galway and back over several days, staying at B&Bs. Any suggestions or advice from our Irish contingent or others who've been there before (other than 'bring an umbrella')?

Cheers,
Jim B.Eaux'Cohen (the Irish spelling?)

Jim,you will need some training on "Drivin on the wrong side of the road" I suggest you take your car for a charge up and down Roosevelt Blvd.for a few hours,on the wrong side of course, just to get the hang of it,on second thoughts, dont,we want to see you over here,in one piece.
Look forward to your visit.

Roosevelt Blvd?? Man! I didn't expect to hear those words comin' out of Northern Ireland! LOL! I'm on that road almost every day!

As for driving on the left, well, y'know I own a 1957 Morris Minor, so somedays I'm tempted to drive on the left... I do ok on the left, except when I come to a roundabout, where I get all turned around (no pun intended) and don't know how to get out of them! It's kinda like driving in a mirror...

But don't you worry; I won't be renting a car until after the steel guitar show! LOL! Image

Jim,Ive spent a lot of time in Philly over the years. My wife and I spent days in Franklin Mills Mall, blowing our hard earned cash. In the 80s,I used to go to Nashville East in Pennsauken, seen some great acts,Merle,Rodrigues,Gene Watson. I even visited Winnie Winston when he lived there.
I love your city,so I hope you will like our small part of the world as much as I like yours.

Yes, I played this great show last year and like Doug Jernigan told me from the year before, these are great guys and gals to perform for. I was treated like a king, such wonderful people. An experience that won't soon be forgotten. I saw many old friends, and made several new ones.
I think everyone should take this show in, and be sure to hang out in the bar. This is where it really happens!

Free bump! I'm really looking forward to this show. Pete Grant and I have just discovered we're on the same flight over. Can't wait!
Flights are pretty cheap now, so if you've always wanted to take a trip to the Emerald Isle, this would be a perfect opportunity/excuse! Image

How about you two, Donna and Tommy?

... that KILLER lead guitarist he had at Scotties ...
I wasn't at Scottie's this year but you're probably talking about Steve Piticco. NEVER miss seeing & hearing Steve play! Just shake it off when your jaw hits the floor! He is just awesome!

And he's "only" a guitar player Image

David, hope you can make it to the show, and it would be nice if CrowBear could make it too. As Don said the guitar player is Steve Piticco, and I asked him at Dallas if he was planning on coming over, but at that time he could not confirm, but you never know. We have a pretty good picker in our staff band,a guy called Ivan Gilliland. Look forward to seeing you all in Drogheda.

It's going to be such fun. I can hardly wait. Ireland is a wonderful country and I'm so tickled to be going back.

October 9th is John Lennon's birthday, and in my show I'll be doing a couple of Beatles tunes on both pedal steel and resonator guitar (a wood-bodied National Model D with a Hipshot Trilogy tailpiece). There are more surprises in store, and you--as they say--must be present to win.
[This message was edited by Pete Grant on 20 September 2004 at 02:13 PM.]

Ted, I don't know about CB,. It would be great if he could go.

I have looked at flights and ferrys too, but the ferrys seem problematic at least for a short trip.

I am working on making it.
