Kid on Korea's Got Talent - the power of music
Manipulative? Sure, but also very human and touching in a way that cuts through all the formula to the truth.

I'm having a really hard time buying into these "talent" shows lately. I think it's all contrived. Once they found that first male singer (don't remember his name), then Susan Boyle, I think they have discovered where the money is. People love to be manipulated. I think it will come out at some point that a lot of these shows are phony.
I did watch the clip, and while I don't think the kid is a very good singer, there's no doubt that the audience absolutely devoured this. I find it a little hard to believe his story.

That's right, Andy. Even if the people were told after the show that they were manipulated I don't think they'd care--they savored the emotional drama.

Please!
Back up everyone.
Let's get back to the truth; especially when it comes to MUSIC.
"YOU CANNOT PETITON THE LORD"; with prayer or premotion.
Am I the only one who sees this phony, ridiculous, ludicrous, untalented, bravado, waste-of-time, idiocy,
for what it is?
Why would any sane person, especially the smarty-pants here, even waste there time to watch this bildgewater?
These shows are just an extension of what happened when the GOO lost it's footing.
You can't just put half-assed wanna-b's on TV and expect everyone to go Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
In the old days, "scouts" scouted the back roads and bars and taverns to find some talent. They actually worked hard to "discover" a talent.
And they usually discovered someone who was already a seasoned "pro" - not some neophyte.
That's it for now, from radio-free Monson, MA.

Hiya Joe, and thanks for your concern.
I'm well aware of Beebe Road, as a carpenter buddy used to live on it way down on the dirt road sector.
I too was spared, luckily. I live on Silver Street, a mile from Rte.20, down from the "Magic Lantern".
I've been slowly checking out the region as new places of disaster are always coming up.
One of the worst areas, as far as I know, is Rte.19 from the Wales P.O. North to Rte.20, Brimfield. It looks like a bombed-out Agent Orange zone.
When you see tornado devastation on TV (such as Joplin, MO), it's bad and you know it's bad. But when you the ruins right in front of you, it's just incomprehensible.
Here are a few pics of downtown Monson I took from my van, the day after. Pics are a tad murky, but no one could park and get out. Certainly not as bad as Joplin, but bad enuff. Thanks again, Joe; and the Lord.
Sorry. I just realized this is getting off-topic. It won't happen again.
