Spoon virtuoso Alley

Post by Bill Miller »

Here for your listening enjoyment is Alley. I remember this guy from way back, he lived in a mining town about an hour from here. He played the spoons back then too but he's gotten a lot better since that. Pretty fancy work!

I rememer istances where a Spoon Player was asked to play a tune with the Band. (usually "The Sheik of Araby"). after he played, he would retire to my edge of the Bandstand and play them in my Ear the rest of the Set. I developed a hatred for Spoon Players !

:D I know what you mean Billy. It's not an " instrument" you need a steady diet of for sure. But it's kind of a cool party trick and not a bad stand-in for a drummer when you're having a house party with guys jamming with fiddles and guitars. I tried to learn how one time so I kind of respect Alley's ability with them. ( I always thought his name was Ollie though...wonder if the poster got it wrong )
