Did they have a closeup of Tommy ? If they did i missed it
Or did they give credits somewhere ? I wish Vince would have shared the break with the steel player on How Great Thou Art ! I thought it was a great show all around . Lots of steel that you could hear . Now this is what i'm talking about ! G.P.

Vince's solo on "How Great Thou Art" was a masterpiece of soul and restraint. It harked back to the one on "Go Rest High on that Mountain". He can craft a solo that raises the goosebumps without ever straying too far from the melody. Buddy Miller can do that as can Mark Knofler.

"How Great" was perfectly arranged, this was not a song to split a solo, Vince was building to a climax and had there been a split it may not have been the same. TW had the perfect spirit filling behind the verses and chorus. As much as I love Steel, sometimes a gentle Strat can bring it all home, as was the case here, the absolute perfect Instrument for the moment.....uhh..along with Carrie of course ! Just an amazing performance by all...

Yes, the show was excellent, at least what I saw of it. I tuned in just before Carrie Underwood started her song. By the way, where can I get a great DVD of this show. Anybody know? And Eiff.......In reference to your response, I believe Vince Gill got his music schooling in Oklahoma City, starting with Bluegrass. You know about Oklahoma, don't you? Lots of excellent music talent hails from this great state.

Right, Bill. From Wikipedia:
Vincent Grant "Vince" Gill was born in Norman, Oklahoma. His father, J. Stanley Gill, was a lawyer and administrative law judge[1] who played in a country music band part time and encouraged Gill to pursue a musical career. His homemaker mother, Jerene, played the harmonica.[2] At the encouragement of his father, Gill learned to play several instruments, including the banjo and guitar, before he started high school at Oklahoma City's Northwest Classen High School. He first played with a teenage band called Bluegrass Revue in the late 1970s. The other members were: Billy Perry on the banjo, Bobby Clark on the mandolin and Mike Perry on the bass. (Bobby Clark plays with Jerry Butler and the Blue Js now.) While in high school, he performed with "Mountain Smoke," a bluegrass band that once opened for Pure Prairie League. After he graduated, he played in a number of bluegrass bands, including Ricky Skaggs' "Boone Creek" and Byron Berline and Sundance.
