What's That Sound???

Post by Sonny Jenkins »

I have some practice tracks (actually just 32 bars of the key/chord) that were included in a package of tracks that someone gave me that are basically just a good c-w rhythm style that the key and tempo can be varied on,,,,good to work out fills and runs,,,however,,,they are set to loop 3 times and on the 2nd time through,,,this irritating drone,,or organ sound comes in and last for the entire 2nd loop,,,then goes away for the last loop. How can I find out what the sound is and KILL it???

Hi Sonny, I would right click one at a time on each instrument at the top of BIAB and choose mute to see which track has that sound.

There must be something that is telling BIAB to add this sound (regardless which instrument it is) to the 2nd of the 3 loops?????? If I wanted to add, say, a trumpet to ONLY the 2nd loop of the 3 loops, what woud I click on to get that option??? Any idea????

Sounds like you may be getting a Patch change put in on the second chorus. To check that, right click on Bar 1 and then click on bar settings in the box that opens. Another box will open with heading "Edit Settings for bar 1". At the top of that, you will see a box with an arrow that says All Choruses. Click on the arrow and then click on "2". That will show, approx. 1/2 way down the box in right column any patch changes made to the song made to take effect in chorus 2. If any of the patch change boxes have anything in them other than 0 No Patch Change, click the arrow on that box and select No Patch Change, click OK and now you should be alright.

I think you guys might be overcomplicating this. I believe the problem is that BIAB is changing from A to B style the second time around. To fix this..........

right click anywhere in the song
choose "song settings"
and unclick "vary style in middle chorus".

That should keep things the way you like them. If it does, save the song so it stays that way.

Good luck!

Glad I could help.

This topic is covered in my DVD "Band In A Box Made Easy". Also, how to change instruments, mute, etc.... for certain bars within a song.
