Fab Faux

Post by b0b »

Sorta fun to watch a band play Abbey Road note-for-note. I doubt that the Beatles themselves could do that.

The Fab Faux play Abbey Road

According to Geoff Emmerick,John told the other three right after the end of recording "Abbey Road" that he was leaving the band,so the original band never played a stage arrangement of anything from the album.Could they have? Theoretically yes, although(again, according to Emmerick)they were barely speaking to one another and worked together as a quartet only when they absolutely had to.
If they could have put it in a hypothetical live set,it probably would have sounded a lot like the vid.Great stuff!

These guys are to the Beatles as the Fendertones are to the Beach Boys. Amazing stuff. 8)

Sir Paul's band does some of those tunes, and they do them very well of course. But they don't play note-for-note like the record. The Fab Faux seem to approach it more like classical music, not rock and roll.

I prefer Paul's approach, of course. :D

Reminds me again of the time Beatles tribute band, The Bootleg Beatles cancelled a gig when they heard that the Bootleg Mark Chapman had threatened to show up.

Remember the old 70's SNL skit with Dan Akyroyd doing the spoof commercial for "Beatlemaniamania"?

"Not Beatlemania, but an incredible simulation."

Of all the Beatles records "Abbey Road" is the only one I've only listened to a few times, so this has a novelty factor for me. Incredible! Another group I tink could do this as well as them would be Todd Rundgren's Utopia. I read "Sun King" was inspired by Peter Green. Now I know why.
