Holy Cow, the Duane Allman Motherlode just dropped a load

Post by David Mason »

I am a huge fan of the concert sites on the internet, as I have problems listening to cookie-cutter music constructed out of parts e-mailed and slapped together by technicians... Sugarmegs.org is the best, but I hadn't stopped in for a while. There's a whole SHOOTPILE* of "new" Allman Brothers sets from late 1970 and all through 1971, and their playing got better month-by-month till Duane died in Oct. 1971. Sugarmegs is just an index, with NO attempt to pick out better or worse-quality tapes. Feast:

Also well worth snagging is the Miami Jams download of Duane's 1st days with Clapton for the Layla sessions. The band had been listless in the studio for weeks and as soon as Duane plugged in magic flowed for hours. Soundboard quality too.
