Aaron Weinstein - fiddle wunderkind

Post by Andy Volk »

This kid is THE heir apparent to the Venuti, Grapelli swing fiddle tradition. I saw him before he graduated from Berklee and left for NY and was quite impressed.

And here he is on mandolin - and it's not even his main instrument!

Incredible economy of motion. As he matures, hopefully he'll play fewer notes. :| Being a Guild man, I do like that Manhattan.

Agree with both statements. As great as it would be to be able to just burn like that, letting the listener up for a breath of air now and then adds a lot of expression.

Of that I have no doubt. I hadn't seen him before; thanks for posting. I'd give a lot to see him and Mark O'Connor perform together. Mark toured with Grapelli several years back, and can sound just like him when he wants to. Or, anyone else for that matter. Amazing.
