Add another to the list: the great R&B singer Teena Marie died yesterday at age 54.

And I'd just like to add: Thank you all for bringing music to my life and may you rest forever in peace. I truly appreciate the contributions of every one of you.

They sure left off quite a few, and some big name ones.

Jimmy Dean (August 10, 1928 – June 13, 2010)
Ronnie James Dio (July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010)
Eddie Fisher (August 10, 1928 – September 22, 2010)
Mitch Jayne (July 5, 1928 – August 2, 2010)
Jimmy Wyble (January 25, 1922 – January 16, 2010)

I just noticed that Jimmy Dean and Eddie Fisher were born on the same day.

3 more great ones that died in 2010 were:
Carl Smith (Loose Talk, Hey Joe)
Mitch Miller (Yellow Rose of Texas and a few hundred others)
Kenny Edwards (played bass for Linda Ronstadt in 80's and 90's).
Mullen D-10 8x5; Sho-Bud Super Pro D10 8x6; PedalMaster 5 Star SD-10 3x5; Dekley D-10 8x4;
Sho-Bud S-10 3x1; Fender Lap/Floor Steel; Peavey Power Slide; Supro Lap Steel; Peavey Nashville 400;
pair of Peavey Vegas 400's; Peavey NV112; Webb 614E with matching extension cabinet; Fender Twin Reverb and 3 cats.

They laughed when I sat down to play, cause' somebody pulled my chair away...

In addition to these, there's a pretty big laundry list of people they left off - e.g., Neil Young right-hand man Ben Keith, country/rock singer/songwriter Hank Cochran, beat poet/singer Tuli Kupferberg, Nashville session musician Fred Carter, Jr., gospel singer Walter Hawkins, bluesman Phillip Walker, and that's just from July's obits.

They did cover Jimmy Dean in a separate bio linked on the LHS of that page. This is a kind of New Yawkish, urban-music-scene kind of thing, but the omission of very well known singers and musicians like Eddie Fischer, Ronnie James Dio, Herb Ellis, and Carl Smith surprises even me.

How do you overlook Mitch Miller who practically owned pop music in the 50's
